Well met, avatar!

Beth Coleman’s new book Hello Avatar (which I did some research work for) describes “emergence of a world that is neither virtual nor real but encompasses a multiplicity of network combinations”. Coleman is an artist and a teacher at MIT and I was working as her research assistant in 2008-9. I did some factual research for the book, as well as participant observantion of the Habbo children’s virtual world (which was a rather disturbing experience). Coming out in December!
